Welcome to Maple Timber Frame Carlisle
Self-Build with Maple Timber Frame
Maple Timber Frame specialises in offering affordable self-build solutions through timber frame construction, which comes with numerous advantages.
These homes boast excellent energy efficiency due to enhanced insulation and timber’s thermal properties. The post-and-beam design allows for flexible layouts and open floor plans, giving homeowners freedom to create their ideal living space.
Timber is a sustainable, eco-friendly building material with a lower carbon footprint. It offers a renewable resource for construction. Exposed timber frames provide a warm, rustic aesthetic, appealing to homeowners seeking distinctive designs.
Sustainable Frames
We provide all-inclusive solutions for constructing timber frame homes in Suffolk and across the UK. Our proficiency includes self-build planning and design, timber production, managing construction, and supervising the entire project.
With Maple, you receive a stress-free service that includes all the necessary components. Whether it’s an entirely new property or modifications or expansions to a current residence.
And Timber Frame House Planning
Timber framed houses are eco-friendly, using renewable wood from responsible forestry. Growing trees absorbs CO2, reducing carbon footprint compared to energy-intensive methods. These homes offer excellent energy efficiency and insulation. Their durability, often lasting centuries, minimises repairs and resource use, promoting long-term sustainability.
Timber components can be reused in new projects, extending material lifespan. At the end of use, timber frames are recyclable or biodegradable, unlike landfill-bound materials. This circularity enhances their environmental sustainability. Wood’s resource efficiency makes it popular with eco-conscious homeowners and builders.
Aesthetic Appeal and Versatility
Timber framed houses look charming with exposed beams, creating a rustic feel. Natural wood adds character inside and out. The open structure allows flexible layouts, giving homeowners freedom to customise spaces. Timber frames offer versatility in architectural styles, from traditional to modern. They can create a cosy farmhouse feel or a striking contemporary look.
The strength of timber frames allows for adaptations over time, including additions and renovations. This flexibility enables homes to evolve with their owners’ changing needs. Timber framed houses boast a warm ambiance, flexible design, and timeless appeal. Their unique aesthetic and versatility make them a popular choice for custom homes.
Cost-Effectiveness and Customisation
Timber framed houses in Carlisle offer cost savings through efficient material use, faster building, and better insulation. Their lightweight strength allows for smaller foundations. These homes are easily adaptable, enabling future expansions or relocations. Well-maintained timber structures can last centuries, justifying the initial investment, and these homes are highly sought-after, potentially increasing resale value. By leveraging the efficiency, speed, energy performance, and versatility of timber framing, homeowners gain a cost-effective solution with long-term benefits.
Our vision for the future is to provide affordable, truly sustainable, zero carbon homes without requiring major changes in the way we live.
Testimonials
Fantastic service from start to finish. Top quality work by a top quality team Highly recommended
Anthony B.,
Bought a timber frame from Maple a couple of years ago. They were a great help during the design process and we can say now that the end result is all they promised, a super house with high insulation values and low heating bills, well done Maple!
Derek W.,
The chosen frame was the standard Maple 90mm design, which was filled with90mm of mineral wool. Though Maple also offer a 140mm frame with higher levels of insulation, Graham and Suzanna’s house achieved an energy efficiencySAP rating of 99 out of 100, so they feel they made the right choice
Build It Magazine,
The Parkyns were determined not to cut corners, and visited some of the Maple’sprevious clients, talking to them about the service. Chris wanted Maple to obtain building regulation consent, supply and erect the frame, and provide the second fix carpentry, but preferred to subcontract out to the various other trades and purchase further materials for himself.
Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine,
Maple Timber Frame helped the Nozedars throughout their project – liaising with the planners and adapting the plans. They had designed the chalet bungalow from the outside, in order to meet all planning requirements.
Homebuilding & Renovating,
After tendering to three timber frame companies the Spraggana chose Maple TimberFrame, who returned the cheapest quote and was the only company prepared to create a totally bespoke frame to Keith Cattell’s design
Homebuilding & Renovating,
The Hansons started by visiting timber frame show homes. They found that many of the designs had vertical wooden posts as standard. While they could see their charm, they could also imagine the bumped heads and tears. The absence of posts was the initial attraction to timber frame manufacturer, Maple. ‘We also like Maple because they were a small, friendly company’ said Caroline. ‘It was great to see the company director, Philip Price, take such an active, hands-on interest in our project.’
Caroline,
The classic stone portico over the front door was created by a specialist firm of stonemasons, Faussets near Blackpool in Lancashire, recommended by Maple. Even allowing for transport costs (to Cambridgeshire), we reckon that we would have had to pay two or three times the price to have had the portico built locally.
Graham & Suzanna,
The erection of the timber-frame was a model of efficiency. The three-man teamarrived mid morning . . . and by the end of the first day already had the frame erectedto first floor level. The entire job took just one week.
Build it Magazine,
I have a complete distrust of tradesmen, which helped us to decide on a buildingusing timber-frame. It is such a quick process, which gives a weathertight shellwithin a few days.
Chris Parkyn,
We wanted to build in timber-frame because it would be quicker than brick and block. We also wanted a house with good thermal values. We wanted apackage company that would give us support all the way through the project, so we simply worked our way through the Build It list of package companies and contracted seven or eightwho sounded suitable
Graham Reynolds,
Lynn and Audrey had visited the Homebuilding & Renovating Show together and hadboth been impressed by Maple Timber Frame, who worked with them to develop theirideas into workable designs. They were interesting to talk to and interested in what wehad to say, but what really clinched it was their flexibility. We weren’t prepared tocompromise on our design.
Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine,
We were on site before the full tendering process for the timber frame was complete. We went to about eight companies and based on a combination of cost and reportsfrom others before deciding on Maple.
